Micah G. Wittmer, PhD, A/OGA

Board Member

Dr. Micah Wittmer is an Orton Gillingham Academy Associate and the founder of Liberated Literacy LLC, an education consulting and tutoring company that provides services for educators and families of adolescents. Through Liberated Literacy, Dr. Wittmer supports adolescent students, their teachers, and their parents with navigating dyslexia, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges through a culturally responsive, anti-bias, anti-racist lens.

For the past 20 + years, Dr. Wittmer has held a variety of teaching positions, including adjunct professor in literacy pedagogy, Board of Education certified middle school ELA and history teacher, Orton Gillingham tutor, undergraduate teaching fellow, undergraduate academic advisor, early childhood music teacher, and violin teacher. She devoted the past seven years of her career as an educator to teaching middle school ELA and history.

After completing the final draft of her dissertation, Dr. Wittmer finally pursued neuropsychological evaluation and was officially diagnosed with a specific learning disability in reading, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Her journey to receiving a diagnosis and her academic struggles and triumphs motivates her to advocate for access to evidence-based literacy education for all learners.
