Executive Functioning Skills: What They Are and How to Support Your Child with Dr. Brandi Wells

  • 2 Steps

About

Executive function (EF) skills are crucial in an individual's development. EF skills help with initiating and managing daily tasks, sustaining our attention, planning, organization, working memory, goal-directed persistence, monitoring our own behaviors, and regulating our emotions. Understanding and recognizing EF skills can help families strengthen their child's academic success, family relationships, social development, and decision-making skills. This presentation will provide an understanding of what EF skills are, and how they are connected to learning (such as reading), attention, and emotions (such as anxiety). Also, practical strategies will be offered to inform and empower families to help children and adolescents thrive in multiple settings.
