A Family Guide for Understanding Student Literacy Data with Chavonna Sheffield, MA

  • 2 Steps

About

For students to attain reading proficiency, teachers must be able to make informed instructional decisions based on data. Teachers, however, are not the only key players when it comes to understanding student data; families are empowered to guide home learning and work with their child’s teacher to ensure reading proficiency is achieved. Through this workshop, families will learn the basics about reading assessment data, how teachers use that data to inform reading instruction, and how this fosters family/school collaboration. By engaging in a guided, family-friendly analysis of reading assessment data reports, participants learn to identify key reading skills, how well their child is making progress to attaining those skills, and what steps they can take to ensure their child becomes a proficient reader.
