Winnie Joy

Chief Knowledge Officer

Winifred (Winnie) Joy, a Reading Interventionist and Educational Consultant, has years of experience working in districts nationally as a school psychologist. In this work, spanning over 20 years, she has advocated for equity in education after recognizing the many ways in which black and brown children were being limited from achieving their full potential. Subsequent conversations centered around dyslexia and literacy in general, and Winnie’s heart for advocacy inspired her to transition from her role as a psychoeducational evaluator to opening the doors of Winnie’s Place in 2020.

Winnie’s Place is an organization focused on providing diagnostic reading assessments, delivering personalized instruction and remediation for children with reading difficulties, and educating parents and teachers alike. Winnie is certified and trained in a diverse group of reading methodologies, including Orton-Gillingham, Phono-Graphix, and Reading Simplified. Through her work, it is her mission to support all families in achieving their academic and social emotional goals for their children.
